About Calvary Chapel of Garland

Calvary Chapel Garland, TX, is the fourth church in the Dallas - Ft. Worth area to be affiliated with Calvary Chapel, Costa Mesa, CA. Its location in an eastern suburb of Dallas makes it easily accessible to the communities of Mesquite, Rowlett, Sunnyvale, Rockwall, East Dallas and Garland.

The church brings to East Dallas County the distinctions and heritage of the Calvary Chapel movement which had its origin in the phenomenal mass conversions and baptisms of the Jesus Movement during the 1970's on the beaches of Southern California. There thousands of hippies and drug addicts turned to faith and freedom in Christ. Instrumental in the transformation of those young souls was the Bible teaching of Chuck Smith, pastor of a small church in Santa Ana, CA. Today there are several hundred Calvary Chapel affiliates across the United States and in other nations.

Concerning the church's mission and purpose, We recognize difference of opinion and belief within the Christian community, but our objective is not to allow them to become stumbling blocks. We stress doctrinal essentials, but grant liberty with nonessentials, all within the character and love of Jesus Christ. We believe all scripture is God-inspired, and we offer a balanced theology, avoiding extremes. Our style is to teach expositionally, book by book, chapter and verse through the Bible, finding guidance and practical application for our lives, equipping believers foundationally for stable living and for service.

Today Calvary Chapel Garland is a growing, thriving church, providing a caring, intimate fellowship for believers with countless opportunities to serve in the Service of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
